PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – The Sheffield boys’ basketball team found out its first-round playoff opponent when District 9 released its playoff brackets Friday.
The Wolverines enter the tournament as the No. 9 seed and will travel to No. 8 seed, and defending D9 champion, Clarion on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. tipoff. D9and10Sports.com will be broadcasting the game live.
Sheffield played to a 9-13 record this season after a 10-10 record last year. The Wolverines bowed out in the first round of the playoffs to Otto-Eldred.
Clarion enters the postseason looking to repeat as district champions after ending an 18-year drought in 2021 with a thrilling championship game win over Johnsonburg. The Bobcats advanced to the state semifinals.
This year, Clarion comes in with a 13-9 record to earn the No. 8 seed.
The winner of Tuesday’s game will advance to a quarterfinal matchup against No. 1 seed Elk County Catholic on Friday, Feb. 25 at ECC.
