UPDATE: Teen Dies in Columbus Township Fire

COLUMBUS TWP, Pa. – A 14-year-old girl died as a result of a Friday morning fire in Columbus Township, according to state police.

Firefighters were called to the scene just before 6 a.m. at the 300 block of Scotts Crossing Road and located one victim upon arrival, according to the Corry Fire Department. According to Corry-based Pennsylvania State Police, the victim was a 14-year-old girl

State Police Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the blaze, police say, which is believed to have started between 5:15-6 a.m. Friday.

Firefighters were on scene through the morning.

Scotts Crossing Road was closed for approximately five hours due to the fire, according to information released by PennDOT.

The Erie Times News first reported the fatality.

Scotts Crossing Road is near the Erie County border in Columbus Township.
