WARREN, Pa. – As major physical work gets underway Monday at the intersection of Market Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, and Water Street PennDOT is reminding motorists that detours will be in place for some traffic.
Work will be completed in stages and will require detours and traffic controlled by flaggers.
Starting Monday, April 3, 2023, traffic on Market Street southbound wanting to access Route 62 southbound will need to follow the detour posted using Route 6, Laurel Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, and Ludlow Street,” PennDOT said in a release. “Traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue eastbound will be detoured using Pennsylvania Avenue westbound to Ludlow Street to Route 6 to Glade Bridge to Pennsylvania Avenue eastbound.”
During Stage 1, a large portion of the roundabout construction will take place predominately within the existing intersection. Westbound traffic will continue to use one lane of the existing roadway. This phase is expected to take approximately two months to complete.
The City of Warren and Mayor Dave Wortman encouraged residents and motorists to use extra caution as well.
“Please be patient, be aware of changing detour signs, and allow extra time to travel through or around the construction zone,” Wortman said in a letter sent to YourDailyLocal. “I strongly encourage everyone to take an extra minute or two to navigate the detours and continue to support the fine businesses located within Warren’s downtown commercial district,” Wortman said.
Bob Cummins Construction, LLC will oversee the construction.
