East Forest School Without Power; School Still On Monday but at Three Locations in Marienville

TIONESTA, Pa. – The Forest Area School District announced Sunday night that East Forest School has no power as of 8 p.m. Sunday, April 2, but school will still be held Monday, April 3.

East Forest students will report to the school as normal and then will be distributed to three separate locations in Marienville.

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students will be transported to the public library. Grades one through six will be at the MACA, and high school students will be at St. Ann’s for the day.

Students will be served breakfast and lunch.

“We appreciate the help and support from our community,” the district posted on its Facebook page. “Parents can still call the school number if they need something during the day and we will relay messages, although it may take a little more time than usual. Please do not call the alternate locations since they may not have staff available to answer the calls. Students will be returned to the school at the end of the day and bussed home as usual.”

West Forest has power and students will attend school as usual.

“Students who would like to use the showers at school during the day at West Forest can bring the things that they need and we will make sure that there is time for them to use the facilities,” the district said in the Facebook post.

There are currently multiple areas of the school district that still are without power, and Penelec is saying that full restoration may take until 11 p.m. Tuesday.

“We will communicate with you tomorrow about plans for Tuesday if power has not been restored,” the Facebook post said.
