Kinzua Wrestling Club to Offer Wrestling Officials Seminar Feb. 12

February 9, 2023

WARREN, Pa. – The Kinzua Wrestling Club will offer a wrestling officials seminar for all senior high school wrestlers and any adult interested in becoming a PIAA wrestling referee on Sunday, Feb. 12.

The seminar will be held from noon – 1:30 p.m. at 200 Struthers Street in Warren (the former Riverside Bowling Alley). Barry Van Ord and other members of the local PIAA wrestling chapter will be on hand to present with a focus on the basics of officiating and the process for becoming PIAA certified.

Due to the lack of certified officials, the PIAA is offering a special mentor program in which high school wrestlers can be certified and be paid to referee junior high matches.

Dr. Dennis Johnson, National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) leadership consultant, and Eisenhower assistant wrestling coach will serve as host for the seminar. Please contact 704-989-2520 for more information.
