WARREN, Pa. – The Kinzua Wrestling Club will feature Sanshiro Abe, former Penn State All-American and Japanese Olympian on Thursday, May 9, at the KWC’s Struthers Street facility from 6-7:30 p.m.
The event is free to all KWC participants.
Abe placed four times in the NCAA tournament going 4-3-2, and was crowned NCAA champion at 126 pounds in 1996. He went on to compete for his native Japan and placed 9th in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
He has had coaching stops at both North Allegheny and Central Catholic High Schools. Currently he works for Milwaukee Tools and coaches the Pitt Bull Wrestling Club in Pittsburgh.
