Free Audubon Story Time Set for Sept. 3

August 28, 2023

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – In her third year as a receptionist at Audubon Community Nature Center, Claire Certo is delighted that First Sunday Story Time is included in her responsibilities.

With a degree in early childhood education from Jamestown Community College, during her six years at Jamestown’s James Prendergast Library, Certo led First Years (0–3) Story Time and often storytimes for older children as well.

“I like to create a fun and casual story time, where everyone is invited,” Certo says. “Regardless of age, connecting children to nature through reading together is a great way to introduce new concepts and gain knowledge about the world around us.”

You and your 2–8-year-old (s) are invited to be part of the next First Sunday Story Time on Sept. 3, when you can go on literary adventures with animals, through habitats and seasons, and discover new things with every page.

Doors open at 12:20 p.m. for the 12:30–1 p.m. event. They open to the public at 1 p.m.

The program is free as is Sunday admission. Come for stories and stay to explore the indoor Nature Play Area, live animals, and exhibits. Then go outside and enjoy the outdoor Nature Play Area and visit Soren, the Red-tailed Hawk, and Cricket, the American Kestrel.

Participation is limited to 15.

Reservations for Story Time are requested by Saturday, Sept. 2. To reserve your space, call the Nature Center during open hours at (716) 569-2345 or go to AudubonCNC.org and click through Programs and Events.

Walk-ins are welcome if there is room.
