Youngsville, Eisenhower Softball Fall to Region 2 Powers

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Lucy Higley had a monster day at the plate, belting three home runs as Union City beat Youngsville, 18-0 in four innings.

Higley finished her day 3-for-3 with seven RBIs.

Abby Tingley fired four perfect innings, striking out seven. Tingley also hit a solo home run.

Also for Union City, Emylee Zielinski was 2-for-3, with three RBIs, while Grace Chapman had three hits.

COCHRANTON 15, EISENHOWER 0, 4 innings

COCHRANTON, Pa. – A nine-run second inning spearheaded Cochranton’s 15-0, four-inning win over Eisenhower.

Jaylin McGill led the way, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. McGill was named Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game for her efforts.

It was part of a 17-hit attack for Cochranton, as Kaylin Rose, Taytum Jackson, Chelsey Freyermuth, Brooke Needler, and Dani Hoffman all had two hits apiece. Jackson drove in three runs, while McGill also scored three runs, as did Rose.

Jackson got the shutout win, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out four.

Tracey Jakubczak and Peyton Frank had Eisenhower’s hits.

Taylor Napolitan took the loss, allowing nine earned runs and striking out three. Napolitan was honored after the game on Senior Recognition.
