Big Third Inning Lifts Conneaut to Win Over Warren

WARREN, Pa. – A 7-run third inning lifted Conneaut to an 11-0, 5-inning win at Warren.

The Eagles, winners of three straight after an 0-6 start to the season, led 3-0 after two innings. A double, single, and a walk loaded the bases. Emily Vennare grounded into a fielder’s choice to bring in the first run of the inning. BreAnn Dendis followed with a sac fly to make it 5-0.

A hit batter and a walk reloaded the bases and Hailey Gilliland roped a 2-run single to center. Another hit batter loaded the bases for a third time and Kylie Shrock followed with an RBI single. Consecutive walks brought in the seventh run to put the Eagles ahead 10-0.

Lainie Harrington closed out the scoring with a solo home run in the fifth.

Warren drew a leadoff walk in four of the five innings but was unable to bring the runner home.

Gilliland had three hits and three RBI. Shrock had two hits, including a double, and two RBI.

Shrock got the win giving up two hits with four walks and five strikeouts in five innings.

Emma Gray and Lillian Devore each had a hit for the Dragons.

Devore took the loss allowing eight earned runs on five hits with five walks in 2 ⅔ innings. Malysia Sorenson allowed two earned runs on two hits with two walks in ⅓ inning. Alana Stuart allowed one earned run on one hit with six strikeouts in two innings.
