January 29, 2022

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Matt Bennett scored 29 points as Union City earned a hard-fought 62-57 win over Youngsville.

The game had the same results but was much different from the first game the two teams played, a 31-point Union City win.

Union City led by 10 at halftime, but Youngsville went on a 20-9 run in the third quarter, capped by a Nathan Curry three just before the quarter buzzer that gave Youngsville a 48-47 lead.

Union City got it done in the fourth quarter, particularly from the free-throw line where they finished 21-of-25 as a team.

Bennett scored eight points in the fourth quarter and Wyatt Post five. Post finished with 11 points, as did Bryce Drayer, with all of his points coming in the first half.

Bennett earned Icyy Ink Player of the Game honors and talked about the win afterward:

Keegan Messel had a big second-half for Youngsville, scoring 12 of his 15 points over the final 16 minutes.

Blake Myers finished with 11 points for Youngsville and Koby Hendrickson scored all 12 of his points in the first half for the Eagles.
