Woman Killed in Wednesday Accident at Buells Corners

ROME TOWNSHIP, Pa. – One person was killed and another seriously injured in an accident at the intersection of Buells Corners Road and State Highway 89 on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

According to a report from Corry-based Pennsylvania State Police, at approximately 3:40 p.m. a 2020 Subaru Forester driven by Mark A. Swanson, 67 of Lyndhurst, Ohio, was heading west on Buells Corners Road when it failed to stop at a posted stop sign. As the Forester entered the intersection it was struck by a 2003 International 4300, operated by Kyle T. Neal, 32 of Shippenville, that was heading south.

The impact spun the Forester in a clockwise rotation before heading off the southwest corner of the road and turning on its driver side, police said. The Forester’s passenger, Rebecca Swanson, 67 of Lyndhurst, Ohio, was transported to Titusville Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Mark Swanson was also transported to Titusville Hospital with suspected severe injuries. According to a report in the Meadville Tribune, he was later flown to UPMC Hamot in Erie. No further updates on his condition were available.

Police said Neal was not injured. All three were wearing their seatbelts, according to police.

PSP was assisted on the scene by Centerville VFD, Centerville Ambulance, Spartansburg VFD, and EmergyCare Titusville.
