Police: Bear Lake Woman Nearly Defrauded for $34,000

BEAR LAKE, Pa. – The U.S. Postal Service intercepted an envelope full of cash after a Bear Lake woman sent the money to a fraudulent person she was communicating with via Facebook, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

According to a release from PSP-Corry, a 67-year-old Bear Lake woman was communicating with a fraudulent individual on Facebook and attempted to send the person $34,000 in cash through postal mail. Police said the U.S. Postal Inspector was notified of the incident and the package with the cash was intercepted before it reached the individual’s address.

According to police the investigation is ongoing and there are no suspects at this time.
