WCSD Calls Emergency Board Meeting for Sept. 2

September 1, 2021

RUSSELL, Pa. – The Warren County School District has scheduled an emergency board meeting for 8 a.m. Sept. 2 in response to the state’s mask mandate.

The board will meet via Zoom “to discuss and take action on the Health and Safety Plan regarding the recent mask mandate from the PA Dept. of Health, and any other items that may come before the Board,” the district announced.

UPDATE, 3:26 p.m. Sept 1, 2021: The meeting agenda can be viewed here.

The DOH announced Aug. 31 that a statewide indoor mask mandate for all K-12 schools, public and private, will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 7.

WCSD Superintendent Amy Stewart told yourdailylocal.com that the district had already received feedback about the state order.

“The masking topic creates a lot of debate,” Stewart said. “There is a great deal of frustration out there right now. We are hearing, primarily, from those who want to keep masking a choice.”
