WCCBI July Newsletter: Celebrations and a Thank You

July 13, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – When we think of the 4th of July, certain images run through our minds. Fireworks. Grilling out with family and friends. Maybe even a little baseball, or fun in the sun at our favorite swimming holes. People come out decked out in red, white, and blue. We gorge on hot dogs, sip on popsicles, and bright-eyed kids can be seen running around in the backyards of every neighborhood.

Even though this holiday has taken a certain shape for us as Americans, we still remember the reason for the celebration of our country’s independence. This federal holiday, also known as Independence Day, marked the adoption by the Colonies of the Declaration of Independence, signed July 4th, 1776.

The ability to get together with the people and the businesses that make this community second to none was almost worth the wait of taking last year off! An unusual year, like the one we just went through, proves just how resilient of a nation we are. With limited resources available and a region, state, and nation full of uncertainty, every member of this Chamber stepped up and did what had to be done to keep doors open, bellies full, and keep each other safe.

This year, the Fourth of July was a day of special celebration. We, as a nation and community, are emerging from the darkness of this past year-and-a-half. A year of pandemic and isolation. A year of pain, fear, and heartbreaking loss. Just think back to where this nation was a year ago, back to where you were a year ago. Look at how far we have come! Together we are beating the virus. Together we are bringing life back into our economy. Together we will help each other, but together we must do it.

Every event that has been created and held to bring folks to our region, and to help boost the local economy, had been postponed or canceled. There was uncertainty, from a planning perspective, if bringing events back would even be profitable or possible again. Would the community come out, without fear? Would sponsors be willing to donate? Would there be volunteers willing to help? Well, Warren County, there was…and we did it! Together.

Celebrating our Independence, like in years prior to the current pandemic, could not have been possible without the continued support from our members and direct donations from these key supporters: JC Warren Real Estate, Highmark, and PA American Water. WCCBI staff would like to extend the biggest gratitude towards Bill and Kelly Thompson, and the entire 4th of July planning committee and volunteers, for their hard work and dedication to the 4th of July weekend celebration. A new event for us, the Food Truck Fest, could not have been successful without the valuable partnership with the Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center and you, the citizens that came out to support local.

Our business owners have been nothing less than INCREDIBLE in finding ways to continue sales, and you (the community) have been nothing short of INCREDIBLE in supporting them. More than ever, we need to encourage our friends and family to do the same thing: SUPPORT LOCAL! The Chamber is nothing without our members. Thank you all for continuing to support our mission as we strive to promote our region as a great place to live, work, raise a family, or start a business.

Thank you, WCCBI members, for continuing to support the WCCBI and our community:
