State Police Searching for Attempted Murder Suspect

PLEASANTVILLE, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police are searching for the suspect in a shooting that occurred in Oil Creek Township on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

UPDATE: PSP announced that Young had been captured in Virginia on May 13.

According to a release from PSP-Franklin, troopers are seeking Anthony Martinez Young, 31 of Pleasantville, in connection with a shooting that occurred on Shamburg Road in Oil Creek Township at approximately 6:40 p.m. on May 1.

Troopers were dispatched to the location for a report of shots fired. According to police, a witness reported seeing a gold 4-door 2007 Ford Fusion (license number MJG 4251) drive up the road and heard one of the neighbors “verbally engage the driver.” The witness went on to say the Fusion stopped and saw a male exit the vehicle and walk towards the victim, Jerimiah C. Chavis, 30 of Pleasantville, with a gun, police said.

According to police, the witness saw the drive aim the gun and fire three shots before reentering the vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Police said an investigation determined Young was the sole occupant and he fled towards Route 227 following the shooting.

According to online court records, Young has been charged with Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Mischief. Police said an arrest warrant has been issued.
