Warren Youth Indoor Climbing League Wraps Regular Season

May 2, 2024

WARREN, Pa. – Bent Run and Allegheny Outfitters closed out the Warren Youth Climbing League regular season with wins at Goat Fort on Monday.

Bent Run topped Whirley, 6,219-5,433, in the first match. The teams traded the lead several times, but with strong performances by Owen Ash, Nina Woldt, and Connor Ash, and with time running out Whirley pulled ahead. Then, after a long fight and many attempts, Bent Run’s Lily White topped the hardest boulder finishing her clean sweep of the meet’s three hardest climbs. And with this devastating blow, Bent Run seized the lead for good.

In a preview of the finals showdown next week, Allegheny Outfitters defeated Slick Text, 7,237-5,441. Allegheny Outfitters jumped out to an early lead, thanks to quick tops from sisters Nina and Eloise Harrington. Lane Morrison and Alivia Glotz countered with hard tops of their own and Slick Text began to even the score. Scarlett Wymer, Markus Hammond, and Riley Littlefield also snagged several tops for Slick Text. Plus, rookie, Autumn Waite, posted a new personal best. However, they were struggling to keep Allegheny Outfitters in check. Elsie Woldt, Razzlin Pratz, Olivia Bailey, Sebastian Cable, Logan Woldt, and Anna Bailey were putting up some big numbers for AO. Slick Text just wasn’t able to keep pace.

The WYCL playoffs are next Monday, May 6, at the Goat Fort. The action starts at 4 p.m. and when the dust settles we will crown the league champions.
