Warren Youth Climbing League Opens Season

WARREN, Pa. – Allegheny Outfitters and Whirley picked up victories as the Warren Youth Climbing League opened its season on Monday, March 18, 2024.

In the first match of the week, Allegheny Outfitters’ Nina Harrington and Bent Run’s Lily White put up big scores with per climb averages of 400 and 436, respectively. AO had four other climbers average over 200 points/climb including Razzlin Pratz (273), Eloise Harrington (257), Elsie Woldt (252), and Olivia Bailey (229) who helped elevate AO to a 5,906-4,028 victory.

Bent Run’s Bella Smith (188) and Haidyn Simpson (128) had big scores as well.

Whirley did not have any climbers over a 300 point average, but teamwork is the key and with three climbers over a 200 average: Nina Woldt (289) Owen Ash (256), and Connor Ash (238) and another three over a 150 average: Owen Heath (197), Avery Woldt (166), and Finley LaVigne (154) they pulled out the win 4,494-3,813.

Kinzua Vet Clinic’s Coleman Miller crushed the boulders and posted a 341 average. Teammates Marshall Harrington and Evan Wellner averaged 178 and 166 per climb.

The Warren Youth Climbing League (WYCL) is an indoor team sport for kids 6 to 12. This season there are five teams sponsored by local businesses. It is a local league with all practices and meets held at The Goat Fort climbing gym in Warren.

The next meet will be Monday, March 25, and will feature Allegheny Outfitters vs. Kinzua Vet Clinic and Bent Run vs. Slick Text.
