WCSD Offering “Passport to Manufacturing” Day for 6-8 Grade Students

March 22, 2024

WARREN, Pa. – The Warren County School District, in conjunction with the Northwest Industrial Resource Center and three local businesses, is offering a “Passport to Manufacturing” Day for students in grades 6 – 8 on Saturday, April 13.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on April 13, students can visit one of three local manufacturers-Betts, Targeted Pet Treats, or Whirley-to obtain their “passport.” Since the event is on a Saturday, students are responsible for their transportation.

“They are to travel to each manufacturer and complete a tour of all three local manufacturers between the hours of 9 a.m. and end no later than 11:45 a.m.,” WCSD Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Eric Mineweaser said. “Between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., there will be tours, free lunch, and the student’s passport drop-off at the Warren County Career Center.”

Students who attended/toured all three local businesses will be entered into prize drawings for items such as an XBOX, Airpods, Drone, Sphero, and 3D-Pen.

Mineweaser said the “prizes are drawn promptly at 12:45 p.m.” Students must be present for the drawing to win a prize.

Students can register here for the event. Please note, the deadline for registration is April 1 (the form mistakenly lists April 4 as the deadline).
