Warren Girls Track and Field Wins Opener vs. Kane; Boys Finished Tied, Fall in Tiebreaker

April 5, 2023

WARREN, Pa. – Warren’s girls rolled to a season-opening track and field win over Kane, 113-33, while Kane won in a tiebreaker on the boys’ side based on most tiebreakers, 10-8 after the two teams finished tied at 75-all.

For the Warren girls, Lilly Newton (400, high jump), Shyann Rulander (800, 1600), and Lindsay Madigan (100, triple jump) were all double individual event winners for the Warren girls.

For Kane, Sam West won the 100 and 200, and Sam Lundeen the high jump and long jump.

For the Warren boys, Sam Lindell won the 1600 and 3200, and Ethan Best the 110 and 300 hurdles.

“We had our first meet of the year not knowing exactly what to expect,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “In my opinion, we showed a lot of strengths and depth that we can definitely build on through the season. The kids we expected to do well all did and many newer faces showed they are ready to contribute. All in all, I think it’s definitely a positive start to the season and we have high expectations going forward.”
