GENEVA, Ohio – Warren Area High School alum Katie Madigan earned a pair of All-America honors during the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the SPIRE Institute on Friday and Saturday.
Diving for PennWest Clarion and in her first trip to the national meet, Madigan took fifth in the 3-meter competition on Friday, and finished seventh in the 1-meter meet on Saturday.
Madigan was part of a history-making day on Friday for the Golden Eagles. Clarion put four divers into the 3-meter championship finals, believed to be the first time one school has advanced four divers to the finals. All four finished in the top-six with Alexa Gonczi winning the championship, defending champion Luna Constellanos taking third, Madigan fifth, and Colleen Hudson sixth.
Madigan, Gonczi, and Castellanos were back at it on Saturday in the 1-meter competition. Gonczi finished third, Castellanos was fifth, and Madigan seventh.
Clarion finished 14th overall in the team standing.
