Stuart Tosses Two Gems as Warren Sweeps DH with LeBoeuf

May 16, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – Kelsey Stuart threw two gems to lead Warren to a sweep of Fort LeBoeuf in a battle for second place in Region 5.

Stuart threw a two-hit shutout in Game One striking out eight.

In the second game, she was nearly as good allowing an unearned run on three hits and two walks while striking out 11.

Stuart needed to be great because Fort LeBoeuf’s two pitchers – Kendal Stull and Jordan Popowski were spot on.

Stull pitched the first game and was the tough-luck loser going six innings allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

Popowski pitched the nightcap and allowed two unearned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

In the first game, Warren took a 1-0 lead in the third innings on a sacrifice fly by Rylie Yeager that scored Halle Kuzminski, who had walked to lead off, went to the second on a wild pitch and to third on a Katie Madigan single.

The Lady Dragons made it 2-0 an inning later when Alex Neureiter reached on an error went to second in a single by Carly Beers and to third on a wild pitch before scoring on an infield single by Elee Irwin.

In Game Two, Fort LeBoeuf took a 1-0 lead in the third on a two-out triple by Popowski that scored Megan Richardson, who started the inning with a walk.

The game remained 1-0 until the top of the sixth when a single by Madigan scored Kuzminski, who reached on a leadoff error, to tie the game at one. Madigan then gave the Lady Dragons the lead when she scored on a two-out double to left by Stuart.
