UNION CITY, Pa. – Sheffield got four wins via pinfall en route to a 48-21 win at Union City Thursday.

The Wolverines added four more victories via forfeit in the match win. Sheffield got things started with a career first.
Freshman Chase Kyler decked Marcus Irwin midway through the second period of their 106-pound match to pick up his first career varsity pinfall victory. Collin Brown grabbed a forfeit win at 113 to put Sheffield up 12-0.
Following a double forfeit at 120, AJ Barnes stretched the Wolverines’ lead to 18-0 with a second period pin over Kaden Tripp at 126. Drew Morgan picked up Sheffield’s second forfeit win at 132 to put the Wolverines on top, 24-0.
Zachary Beckwith got the Bears on the board with a third period pin over Trenton Mead at 138. Clay Thomas picked up a forfeit win at 145 to cut the Sheffield lead to 24-12.
Cooper Traister needed just 1:01 to stretch the Wolverines lead back to 18 with a pinfall win over Owen Kerns at 152. Kyle Myers got the points right back for the Bears when he decked Giddeon Dickenson in the first period at 160.
Union City got its final win of the night when Nick Kaday picked up a 7-2 decision over Landon Mead at 170. Kaday got a takedown and near fall in the first for a 5-0 lead. He secured another takedown in the second for his seven points. Mead got two near fall points in the third, but couldn’t secure the pin.
Joe Donato (189) and Ethan Finch (215) got forfeit wins and Danah Campbell needed just 23 seconds to deck Joe Pituch at 285 to close out the match.
The Wolverines will have a week off before returning to the mat for their first home match of the season Thursday, Jan. 21 against Curwensville. Sheffield will honor its seniors during Senior Night prior to the match.
