Parks and Rec Committee Sets Date for Crescent Park Grand Opening

February 2, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – The revitalized Crescent Park grand opening now has a date.

During Tuesday’s Parks and Recreation Committee meeting, the committee originally left a date open-ended, but it was decided that May 13 (Friday) will now be the date, to allow dignitaries to potentially get it on their calendar.

Improvements made to the park include to the trail surface and installation of lights, new restroom facilities and other infrastructure improvements. Resurfacing of the basketball court was also approved, but falls under the budget for paving (also approved Monday night).

“The lights got installed maybe two, three weeks ago now, and they look real nice,” said Director of Public Works Mike Holtz.

Holtz noted that the grand opening would likely take place around 6:30 or 7 p.m. ( a time wasn’t finalized), so as to allow to show off the new lights.

“We’re maybe going to do a joint celebration with the Street Landscape Committee,” Holtz added, noting that group is celebrating its 100th birthday this year.
