Music in the Park Slated to Open Friday

June 1, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – Music in the Park is slated to open this Friday, June 3 at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Warren.

“Jays” oldies band will kick things off on Friday, beginning a 13-band run that will go through Sept. 2.

“I try to change it up every year,” Music in the Park Director Bill Thompson said. “There’s all kinds of good groups locally, and the surrounding area. I try to go up into the Jamestown area as well. There’s a good mix of different groups. I try to give everyone a chance but I try and promote local.

“I’ve got bluegrass, country, classic rock, blues band, oldies. So we mix it up. It’s just not a certain crown, I want it for everybody. That’s part of Music in the Park.”

Music starts every Friday at 7 p.m.

In addition, the amphitheater at Soldiers and Sailors Park will now officially have a name.

City Council approved the naming of the ’JAZz’ Amphitheatre in December of 2021, honoring Jim Zavinski for his years of community service in Warren.

“Jim has dedicated countless hours to the development of our community,” said Department of Public Works Director Mike Holtz.
