PSP: Attempted Homicide Suspect Arrested in Virginia

VENANGO COUNTY, Pa. – Pennsylvania State Police announced that the suspect in a shooting that occurred in Oil Creek Township on May 1 has been arrested in Virginia.

According to a release from PSP-Franklin, Anthony Martinez Young, 31 of Pleasantville, was taken into custody on May 13 in Vinton, Virginia by Virginia State Police and the US Marshals. Young was taken to Roanoke City Jail to await extradition back to Pennsylvania.

According to online court records, Young has been charged with Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Mischief in connection with the shooting.

Troopers were dispatched to Shamburg Road for a report of shots fired at approximately 6:40 p.m. on May 1. According to police, a witness reported seeing a gold 4-door 2007 Ford Fusion drive up the road and heard one of the neighbors “verbally engage the driver.” The witness went on to say the Fusion stopped and they saw a male exit the vehicle and walk towards the victim, Jerimiah C. Chavis, 30 of Pleasantville, with a gun, police said.

According to police, the witness saw the driver aim the gun and fired three shots before reentering the vehicle and fleeing the scene.
