Multi-Alarm Fire in Sugar Grove

SUGAR GROVE, Pa. – A multi-alarm fire engulfed a structure on Rowley Road in Sugar Grove Sunday afternoon.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud bang, possibly an explosion, at approximately 3:15 p.m. Sunday. Within minutes, the barn structure at 250 Rowley Road was engulfed in flame.

“It sounded like an explosion,” Marlene Rowley, who lives approximately one-eighth of a mile away, said. “It shook the whole house and the electricity flickered. I went outside and saw the smoke.”

A call went out to Youngsville, Lander and Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Departments at 3:20 p.m.

Firefighters battled the blaze for about an hour before containing it. Firefighters were on scene as of 8 p.m. Sunday.

The owner posted to Facebook that three goats and a dog were lost in the blaze.

Wrightsville, Bear Lake, and Busti and Frewsburg, New York, VFDs assisted on scene.
