WATERFORD, Pa. – Sheffield’s track and field teams joined their counterparts from Eisenhower and ventured into District 10 territory where both the Knights and the Wolverines had multiple medal winners at the Fort LeBoeuf Invitational on Saturday.

Lucas McNeal took third in the high jump (5’9″), and Emily Davidson was fifth in the javelin (89’5″) for the Wolverines. Mackenzie Dunn took third in the shot put (32’7″) and fourth in the discus (87’6″), while Caleb Penley finished fifth in the discus (120’3″), and Marissa Gourley was eighth in the 300 hurdles (55.16).

“The plan worked accordingly,” Sheffield coach Jason Snell said. “You face top-notch competition, you put on top-notch effort, you bring home top-notch results!”

McNeal was also part of the 4×100 relay (along with Colby Barr, Collin Brown, and Leihden Wotorson) that qualified for the District 9 championships with a season-best time of 47.06.

“They may not have won a medal, but I think they were happier getting that qualifying time in and to finally get that monkey off of their backs,” Snell said. “It was a gorgeous day, a gorgeous facility, a fast track, and a great experience for all who went.”

Both teams are back in action this week. Eisenhower heads to War Memorial Field for a dual meet with Warren on Tuesday, while Sheffield hosts Otto-Eldred and Cameron County for a tri-meet on Thursday.
