Knights Face Cardinals In Final Tune-Up Before Playoffs

October 23, 2020

Eisenhower wanted another game before their D-10 Class A semifinal matchup against West Middlesex, and they have it in the form of the Cochranton Cardinals.

Never mind that the Knights are 6-0 and the Cardinals 0-6. This is a chance for Eisenhower to line up against another opponent instead of having to sit idle for a week

The game is slated for Friday night at Cochranton, with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Knights have been a machine this season, beating Region 5 teams by an average of 48.7 ppg.

Owen Trumbull (55-of-80, 1,048 yards, 18 TDs, 2 INTs; 312 rushing yards, 3 TDs), leads the potent EHS offense, along with Cael Black (636 yards rushing, 12 TDs), Dillon Benson (22 receptions, 469 yards, 6 TDs) and Caleb Robinault (222 yards receiving, 6 TDs), as well as the do-everything Zane Alexander.

Jon Gallo (344 yards rushing) paces the Cochranton offense.

Defensively, the Knights are led by Gannon Jaquay (47 tackles), Benji Bauer (43 tackles), Colby Hagg (35 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss),, Jared Beers (34 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss), Black (13.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks).

On special teams, Jake Venman has been terrific handling the kicking duties, while Alexander provides a big spark in the return game.

Because of the revised regions and schedules for the 2020 season, the Knights and Cardinals don’t share any common opponents.
