Glade Supervisors Discuss EMS Status with EmergyCare

May 19, 2021

GLADE TWP, Pa. – Glade Township Supervisors met with EmergyCare during their regular meeting Tuesday to get an update on the response rate the company provides to the Township. In short, the supervisors were pleased with what they heard.

EmergyCare Director of Operations Todd Steele said that out of 269 total requests for service in Glade Township, EmergyCare answered 248 calls and turned 21 to the City of Warren.

“We were on call somewhere else (for those 21 calls),” Steele said. “We staff three ambulances during the day, plus a supervisor, and we’re going to add another EMT (to our day staff) soon.”

The discussion came on the heels of Warren City Council’s move to send a request to the state that the City no longer be required to respond to EMS calls outside of City limits.

“Our only goal is to make sure Glade Township is covered,” Chairman Fred Freeman said.

Steele recognized that the staffing issue isn’t going away anytime soon, but suggested a cooperative approach to solving it.

“EMS is a system,” Steele said. “So it’s a system approach we need to take.”
