YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – For 100 years and through five generations, the Johnson family has provided transportation services in Warren County. On Saturday, Johnson Transportation held a 100-year celebration at its Route 6 location in Youngsville.

The family kicked off the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of the next 100 years. The Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry presented a plaque and State Senator Scott Hutchinson presented citations from the State Senate and State House of Representatives.

“I’m just delighted to be here to congratulate the Johnson family,” Hutchinson said. “Five generations, started with horse and buggy to the current day when they have regular school buses to transport our children. Just a wonderful success story.”

Owner Connie Johnson credited the strong family bonds and a great group of employees for the business’s longevity.

“This is fantastic. It started way back with my great-grandfather Axel Johnson and Olga, and it’s gone down through my grandparents, my parents, and now to Cody and I,” Connie said. We have a great, amazing group of drivers that work for us and we are so blessed.”

Having her grandmother cut the ribbon, Connie said, was a highlight of the event.

“My grandma Lois is here today, she’s going to be 95 this year, and just seeing her cut that ribbon today means the most to us that she can still celebrate,” Connie said.

Not just a ribbon cutting, the day-long event featured games, prizes, demonstrations, information booths, food, and vendors.

Hutchinson felt it was important to read one passage from the Senate and House citations.

“The Senate and the House of Representatives take great pride in recognizing those businesses which through their adherence to the highest standards of service, contribute in a meaningful way toward a more productive society,” Hutchinson read. “Now, therefore, the Senate and House congratulate Johnson Transportation upon its richly deserved recognition and extend warmest wishes for a future replete with ever-increasing success.”

Owner Cody Johnson said the family plans to stick with a tried and true formula for success in the future.

“We’re going to keep on bussing, and keep doing what we’re doing trying to keep it going,” Cody said.
