The Warren County Open, presented by Warren Bus Lines, will take place May 28-30, featuring three different courses – Conewango Valley Country Club, Jackson Valley Golf Course, and Blueberry Hill Golf Course.

“We’re excited, it’s been a while since we’ve done the Open,” said John Papalia. Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry Director of Chamber Operations & Tourism. “The event will feature two-person teams. The play will be flighted after the first day. We’ll have daily winners and individual flight winners. Anyone participating is in the game every day, which I think is super exciting.”

Play will be at CVCC on Friday, Jackson on Saturday, and finish up at Blueberry on Sunday with dinner and an awards banquet.

“The tournament starts with a scramble format and best-ball on Saturday and Sunday,” noted Papalia. “This gives us a few different options. We encourage anyone who can to register.”

Warren Bus Lines is the presenting sponsor of the event, with a $5,000 cash payout between all flight winners.

“We obviously want to give a huge thank you shout out to Warren Bus Lines,” Papalia said.

Play will get underway at noon on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with a shotgun start each day. The cost is $430 per team and registration closes on Friday, May 21.

“There will be lunch at the turn each day,” noted Papalia.

Payment can be made by cash, check (made payable to WCCBI), or credit card. To pay by credit card or for more information, contact the WCCBI at 814-723-3050 or visit them online at wccbi.org.

“This is a great way to highlight some different courses and attract people from out of town to stay in Warren County for a few days,” Papalia said. “We’d love to get to a total of 36 teams. We’re extremely grateful to the club pros, Eric Gurdack (CVCC), Joe Yaegle (Jackson), and Gary McCollough (Blueberry). Gary does a lot of stuff to help get this stuff organized, so a special thanks to him.”

McCollough, for his part, is very excited as well.

“I know that golf has really been booming the last couple of years,” McCollough said. “We’re hoping for good support and a good turnout. We’re trying to bring people in from all over, to stay in our hotels and come down and support the community.”

McCollough also extended his thanks to Warren Bus Lines and noted that, along with everything else the Open offers, there will be skins winners each day as well.

“It’s really like a member-guest, with the big difference being you get to play a different course each day,” McCollough said. “The sign-ups need to be very soon. The bigger the better.”
