WARREN, Pa. – A special kind of Easter Egg Hunt drew approximately 40 families to the North Warren Presbyterian Church Sunday.

The “Egg-cellent Adventure” egg hunt was an intentionally small event designed specifically for children with developmental delays, disabilities or very young age.

“The hunt was an all-inclusive, sensory-friendly and judge-free zone, which allowed both parents and children to relax and enjoy the event,” event organizer Jessica Patz said. “All-inclusive events allow parents to connect with each other and children to get interaction with peers.”

More than 100 prizes and 400 eggs were set out for children to collect. Additionally, a balloon arch and Easter inflatable were available for photo opportunities. Each child received a juice box, snack and toy prior to starting the hunt.

“Easter baskets were overfilling as each child headed home with a bunch of treats and goodies,” Patz said.

Patz plans to run the event again next year and said parents should be on the lookout for flyers and a Facebook page explaining how to pre-register.

“Each year the attendance is kept low by requiring pre-registration in order to make sure no child gets overwhelmed or overstimulated,” Patz said.
