Eisenhower Drops Road Contest at Cochranton

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Trailing 3-0 early, the Cochranton Cardinals scored six runs in the first and second innings en route to an 8-5 win over Eisenhower.

Josh Merchbaker had an RBI single in the first inning, as did Jack Rynd, while Jaiben Walker’s double plated a pair.

Merchbaker and Rynd also had RBI singles in the second.

The Knights struck for three runs in the top of the first on a Jared Beers RBI single, a Zach Rohlin RBI double, and a Kael Hunt groundout.

Merchbaker also got the win for the Cardinals, going six innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks, striking out 11. Wyatt Barzak got the save, tossing a scoreless inning with a strikeout.

Bryce McDonough had four hits for the Cardinals, while Merchbaker and Rynd had three each.

Rohlin had two doubles and two RBIs for the Knights, while Hunt had two RBIs and Beers two runs scored.

Hunt took the loss, allowing eight runs on 15 hits, striking out five.
