Corry Outlasts Warren in Battle of D10 Contenders

September 14, 2023

CORRY, Pa. – In a battle of two of the top contenders in District 10, Corry (Class 2A) outlasted Warren (Class 3A) for a 3-2 (25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11) win.

“Our tough schedule will benefit us in the long run, playing matches like this where our blocking and back row play are tested,” Warren coach Mike Dolan said. “I thought we did really well in those two aspects. Corry is a team that stays on the attack. If we can just manage the ball a little cleaner at times and continue to improve our offense we will be in good shape heading toward region play.”

Hailey Albers led Corry with 11 kills and 12 digs. Grace Allen had 10 kills, Makenna Moore had six aces and 18 digs, and Peyton McCray had eight digs and ran the offense with 32 assists.

Alexia Bowers had 16 kills and 18 digs for the Dragons. Kylie Fehlman had 15 kills and six blocks, Maddy Jones had 14 kills, and Madelyn Nosel had 10 kills.

Summer Lucks had 39 digs and seven assists, Lily Newton had four kills, and Lindsay Madigan had 10 digs, four blocks, two aces, and ran the offense with 48 assists.

“Lindsay did give all of our hitters opportunities to take some nice swings so we’ll build off this, hopefully keep improving,” Dolan said.
