Big Second Half Lifts Eisenhower Girls to Win Over Kane

RUSSELL, Pa. – After giving up 15 points in the first quarter, Eisenhower limited Kane to just 15 total points in the second half on its way to a 53-37 victory on Friday.

The Knights trailed, 15-7, after the first eight minutes, but made it a 2-point game at the half. Eisenhower led by five after three quarters, then exploded for 20 points in the fourth quarter.

“Kane was good too, my girls just flat out played,” Eisenhower coach DJ Steinberg said. “I am so excited for them and this season.”

Freshman Clara Steinberg had a game-high 20 points, her second straight game with 20 or more points. Bella Marino had 10 points, and Mackenzie Dunn, Lainey Font, and Laney Belcher each had seven points.

Mia Andersen led the Wolves with 13 points. Hailey Hillman had eight points and Maya Smith had seven points.

Kane won the junior varsity game, 29-20.

Alexa Olmstead had a game-high 11 points for the Wolves. Hailee Sheaffer had eight points and Ruby Jekielek had six points.

Lilly Smyth led the Knights with 10 points and Caroline Smyth had six points.
