Younger to Continue Academic, Athletic Career at Alfred State

RUSSELL, Pa. – Eisenhower’s Conner Younger knew going into his senior season that he wanted to play collegiate football, and recently he signed to do just that at Alfred State.

Joined by his parents, Steve and Kelly, and Knights head coach Jim Penley, Younger signed his commitment letter to play for the Pioneers on March 22.

“I decided (to play in college) going into my senior year, especially after missing my junior year due to breaking my leg,” Younger said.

Younger’s recruiting process was “easy,” especially since Alfred State, where he plans to major in Heavy Equipment Operation, was his top choice.

“I didn’t really consider any other schools,” Younger said. “Since they had the heavy equipment program with their trade school, it was definitely a big thing for me.”

Younger credited the Knights’ coaches and their coaching style for helping to prepare him for college football.

“I would say the coaches at Ike were a big thing for preparing me,” Younger said. “And them being strict on me.”

With approximately two months left in high school, Younger said he’s already looking forward to a few things when he steps foot on the Alfred State campus.

“Making friends, playing football, and doing something I enjoy,” Younger said.
