Wolverines Roll to First Round Playoff Win Over North Clarion

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Sheffield bounced back from a disappointing end to the regular season with an emphatic 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-11) win over North Clarion in the first round of the District 9 Class 1A playoffs.

The Wolverines lost in five sets at Johnsonburg in the final game of the regular season but came out firing on all cylinders on Tuesday.

“We all just played together and we just kept the energy up, we had some aggressive serves, and I think we all just played together,” Sheffield’s Emily Davidson said during the Cole Orthodontic Associates postgame interview.

Davidson had 10 digs and was part of a strong serving effort, Sheffield had 18 total aces and served 95% from the line, to earn Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game honors.

Kassidy Orinko led the Wolverines’ attack with 10 kills, three blocks, and nine aces. Emma Roell and Peyton Wotorson each had four kills and eight digs. Kadence Steffan had three aces and ran the offense with 18 set assists.

Kyler Freeman paced the She-Wolves with 10 kills and 10 digs. Ainsley Hartle had three blocks, three aces, and ran the offense with 18 set assists.

Sheffield advances to the D9 quarterfinals where the Wolverines will face third-seeded Coudersport in Coudersport on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
