Warren’s Berdine, Swanson, Eisenhower’s Beers Earn All-Region Baseball Honors

SHARON, Pa. – Warren’s Ben Berdine and James Swanson and Eisenhower’s Jared Beers were named D10 Region baseball all-stars, as voted on by the region coaches.

In Berdine’s case, he pulled double duty, garnering first-team honors as a second baseman in Region 5 and second-team as a pitcher.

Swanson, meanwhile, was a second-team outfielder in Region 5, while Beers was a first-team designated hitter in Region 3.

Berdine, who will be playing collegiately at Mercyhurst University next season, put together a 6-1 record on the mound with a 1.71 ERA. In 41 innings pitched, he struck out 72, walked 23, and had an opponent batting average against of .190.

Offensively, Berdine hit .338 with six doubles, three home runs, 22 RBIs and an OPS of .951.

Swanson, also a senior, hit .327 with three doubles, one triple nine RBIs, 14 stolen bases and an OPS of .898.

Beers, a senior, hit .431 for the Knights with two doubles, one home run and 16 RBIs. He also had an OPS of 1.010.

Warren beat Grove City in the D10 Class 4A quarterfinals before falling to Harbor Creek in the semifinals. Eisenhower, meanwhile, lost a 4-3 thriller to West Middlesex in the Class 2A quarterfinals
