Knights Down Cardinals for First Win of the Season

RUSSELL, Pa. – Eisenhower got the bats going early and took advantage of five errors to pick up its first win of the season, 8-4, over Cochranton.

The Knights scored three runs in each of the first and second innings, then tacked on two more in the fourth. The Cardinals tried to rally late, scoring four runs in the sixth, but were set down in order in the seventh.

Isaiah Long had three hits, scored once, and drove in a run for Cochranton. Ben Field had two hits and an RBI.

Coleton Mattocks took the loss allowing six runs, four earned, on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts in two innings. Field gave up two unearned runs on two hits with a strikeout in four innings.

Jarius Casey and Mason Degnan each had two RBI for the Knights. Johnny Palmieri, Cole Kellogg, and Caleb Jakubczak each had two hits. Kellogg and Jakubczak each scored twice, while Palmieri scored once and drove in a run.

Jakubczak picked up the win allowing two earned runs on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts in five innings. Derek Childs gave up two earned runs on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts in two innings.
