Warren Volleyball Knocks Off State-Ranked Cochranton

WARREN, Pa. – Warren volleyball got a big momentum boost heading into the final week of the season with a 3-1 win over state-ranked Cochranton Saturday.

The Dragons dropped the first set in extra points, but came back to take three straight for a 26-28, 25-14, 25-13 and 26-24 victory. The Cardinals came into the Joseph A. Massa gymnasium as the No. 6 ranked team in the state in Class 1A.

Warren played a strong defensive game with four players registering double-digit digs.

Jordan Sitler led the attack with 18 kills. Carly Beers had a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs, while Hannah Shattuck just missed getting a double-double of her own with 10 kills and nine digs. Olivia English added eight kills.

Halee Mineweaser ran the offense with 41 assists and added 15 digs. Katie Madigan had 35 digs, while Meredith Morrison added 12 digs.

Warren won the junior varsity match, 26-24, 24-26 and 15-5.

Kirsten Johnson had 10 kills and a pair of blocks, Summer Lucks added 14 digs and Lauren Dolan had 21 assists and four digs in the win.

Warren hosts Titusville Tuesday.
