WARREN, Pa. – The Warren Dragons needed a win against Conneaut on Tuesday to tie for the Region 5 title with the Eagles.
They got it, earning a 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19) victory.
Both teams finished with identical 6-2 records, splitting their two matchups after Conneaut earned a five-set win over the Dragons on Sept. 30.
Warren got strong performances from its three seniors – Katie Madigan, Ellee Irwin and Halee Mineweaser. Madigan (15 kills, 19 digs) and Irwin (10 kills, 13 digs) both had double-doubles, while Mineweaser had 25 set assists, six digs, four blocks, two aces and five kills.
Irwin was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Match and talked about the win afterwards:
The Dragons overcame a big night from Conneaut’s Kaylee Mattera, who had 18 kills, seven digs and three aces.
Sylvia Prebor added six kills and seven blocks for CASH, while Rylee Jones had seven digs and Amber Clark 30 assists and seven digs.
