September 20, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – Warren went toe-to-toe with one of the top volleyball teams in the state on Monday, coming up just short in a 3-2 (25-13, 23-25, 27-29, 25-14, 15-8) decision.

Clarion hasn’t lost in a non-tournament setting since a 3-1 loss to Northern Cambria in the 2019 PIAA Class 1A semifinals and had won 64 consecutive sets (not counting tournaments) dating back to a match against Maplewood on Sept. 23, 2020.

The Dragons, however, came ready to play, rallying from the first set setback to win 25-23 in set two and earn a back-and-forth thriller in the third, 29-27.

Senior Katie Madigan put together another terrific performance for the Dragons with 15 kills and 22 digs, while Halee Mineweaser ran the offense to near perfection to the tune of 30 assists, as well as four blocks.

Clarion’s Korrin Burns had a monster match, notching 40 kills.
