February 2, 2023

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Warren and McKean Counties beginning at 5 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.

The advisory runs until 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. Wind chills between 15 and 20 below zero are expected.

“The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes,” the NWS said.

The NWS advised people to prepare for the dangerous cold.

“Dress in layers and cover exposed skin,” the advisory said. “Wear a hat and gloves. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur within minutes if precautions are not taken.”

Winter weather safety and preparedness information can be found at weather.gov/winter. The Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission issued similar preparedness information last month.
