ERIE, Pa. – Despite a pair of setbacks in the pool at Cathedral Prep and Villa, the Warren Dragons swimming and diving teams broke multiple records Monday.

Katie Madigan took first place in diving with a score of 280.7, breaking the Prep-Villa pool record by more than 30 points. Izzy Heacox took third place with a score of 168.45 and Alexia Bowers had her best night with a score of 133.55.

“We’re ramping things up this week as we move closer to districts,” said Warren diving coach Matt Madigan. “We have our senior night Wednesday vs. Meadville, Brookville on Thursday, and the McDowell Invitational Saturday. The girls are really working hard and getting better every day. We’re looking good but still have a little meat left on the bone.”

Senior Katie Beyer also set a record in the pool with a time of 58.18 in the 100 backstroke, breaking the previous mark of 59.83 held by Elin Smith (2013).

On the boys’ side, sophomore Hugh Harrison broke the school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.27. The previous mark was 54.24 held by Logan Gearhart.

The boys fell by a score of 125-52 and the girls 114-71.
