Warren Girls Make Statement at Meadville

October 6, 2020

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Warren and Meadville girls soccer teams have developed an intense rivalry over the last few years. On Tuesday, the Dragons emphatically grabbed the upper-hand in that rivalry.

Kyra Wotorson, Paige Johnson and Kyleigh Wilson all scored hat tricks as Warren rolled to a 10-0 win at Meadville. Georgie Bickling added a goal and three assists as well.

“I could not more proud of this team, their hard work and our senior leadership,” Warren coach Jeremy Bickling said.

The trio of Wotorson, Johnson and Wilson each scored two of their three goals in the first half. Ella Ordiway dished out a pair of assists in the half, and Bickling, Wilson and Eliza Brook had helpers as well.

Bickling scored the final goal of the game in the second half, after Johnson, Wotorson and Wilson-in that order-picked up their third goals. Bickling assisted on the Johnson and Wilson goals, and Wilson had the assist on Wotorson’s goal.

For this senior crop of Dragons, the win was especially sweet. They’ve met the Bulldogs in each of the previous three postseasons. Meadville won the first match, but Warren took the next two, including last year in the District 10 title game.

“Our seniors wanted this win and made it their mission to remind Meadville who the defending District 10 champions are,” Coach Bickling said.

The win moves Warren to 8-0 and puts the Dragons in sole possession of first place in Region 3. Meadville falls to 7-1.

The Dragons have a bit of a rest period as they won’t take the pitch again until they head to Oil City Oct. 12. Meadville will be in Warren County Thursday for a match at Eisenhower.
