Eastman Nets a Hat Trick as Eisenhower Girls Shutout Titusville

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Elley Eastman scored a hat trick to help lead Eisenhower to a 5-0 win at Titusville Tuesday.

Eastman opened and closed the scoring, all of which was in the first half, and the Knights scored three goals in a five-minute span to break the game open against the Rockets.

“The Knights started out fast and controlled the ball for most of the first half,” Eisenhower coach Diana Elmquist said.

Eisenhower put its first goal on the board 10 minutes in. Cassie Smelko fired a pass to Eastman on the right wing and Eastman put it in to the corner of the net.

The next three Knights goals came within five minutes of the first. Eastman picked up an assist on the second goal as she sent a crossing pass to Megan Strausser who tapped it in. Leah Peterson sent another crossing pass to Strausser who again put it home.

With 25:26 to play in the half, Eastman scored unassisted. She finished off the scoring with an unassisted goal with 3:21 to play in the first half.

“Eisenhower was able to produce 12 quality shots on goal, with five of them finding their way to the back of the net,” Elmquist said.

Titusville keeper Paisley Crawford had 11 second half saves to keep the score 5-0.

“The Rockets came out much faster in the second half,” Elmquist said.

Lilee Renninger had three saves for the shutout.

Eisenhower hosts Meadville Thursday.
