YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Warren Electric Cooperative is warning the public of a scam involving its phone number.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, the Youngsville-based company said that scammers had been using Warren Electric’s phone number, 814-563-7548, to make calls “across the state.”
“Sometimes the targets are our members, others victims are across the state and have nothing to do with the Cooperative,” the post said. “The callers are identifying themselves as Warren Electric. Sometimes they are trying to sell solar panels, other times they are offering other services.”
Warren Electric is asking anyone who receives a call from 814-563-7548 where the caller tries to sell something or leaves the recipient with “a funny feeling,” to hang up and call Warren Cooperative directly.
