War Memorial Field Slated to be Ready for Warren Football Opener on Friday

August 22, 2022

WARREN, Pa. – After weeks of speculation, the new turf at War Memorial Field should be ready to go by this Friday as the Warren Dragons’ football is team scheduled to host Oil City in their season opener.

“Unless something unforeseen occurs, we plan on playing Oil City at WMF on Friday at 7 p.m.,” Warren Area High School Athletic Coordinator Jeff White said.

The contingency was to have the game played at Oil City, per White and Oil City Athletic Director Tim LaVan.

The old turf and track were removed earlier this summer.

The game on Friday will mark the first athletic event on the new surface. Last season, Warren fell behind 18-0 before rallying for a thrilling 21-18 victory over Oil City.
