Terry Whippo

December 14, 2020

Terry D. Whippo, 72 of Sheffield, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Rouse Home in Youngsville.

He was born in Kane on August 5, 1948 to Carl H. Whippo and Louise V. Thomas Deemer.  Terry was a graduate of Kane High School.  He obtained an Art Degree from York Academy of Arts in York, PA.  He furthered his education at Edinboro University.  Terry lived in Erie and Buffalo before returning to Sheffield to assist his brother Gary.  While in Erie he was the highly respected Artistic Director at WICU Television.

He will be sadly missed by those former colleagues and many friends he made while in Erie and Buffalo.  He was well known for his extravagant holiday decorating and parties.  His artistic talents were evident in everything he did, from repurposing discarded items such as gutters and turning them into beautiful crown molding, to taking items found in nature and incorporating them into gift wrapping.  He was generous beyond his means and would do anything for anyone.  Once he moved back to Sheffield, he pursued his love for antiques, opening a shop called “Now and Then”.  He loved going on antique buying expeditions for the shop and interacting with customers was the highlight of each day.  Terry held a special place in his heart for animals.

Left behind to cherish Terry’s memory are his brother Gary Whippo of Sheffield, a sister Sandy Smith, of Leesville, LA, a sister-in-Law, Silvia Whippo of AZ and a nephew Scott Whippo of VA, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He is further survived by his devoted friends Sabra Kay Gustafson Pasky, Rosy Cashmere and Donna McDonald, all of Sheffield, along with his best friend Winslow, his dog.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Bob Whippo and his step-father, Irvin Deemer.  There will be no calling hours or services.

The family has entrusted the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield with all the arrangements.  Memorial donations may be made to the Sheffield Ambulance Service at POB 491 Sheffield, PA 16347.  To leave an online condolence for Terry D. Whippo please visit www.BordenFuneralHome.com
