Super Seniors: Dragons’ Senior Trio Shines in Win Over Grove City

October 18, 2021

WARREN, Pa. – Warren’s trio of seniors rose to the occasion on Senior Night to lead the Dragons to a win over Grove City on Monday.

Ellee Irwin and Katie Madigan each had double-doubles, while Halee Mineweaser had another all-around strong game in Warren’s 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-21 and 25-19) win over the Eagles.

“It was senior night and all three seniors (Ellee, Katie, and Halee) had terrific all-around games and once again led the way in the win,” Warren coach Mike Dolan said.

Madigan had 15 kills and 19 digs while Irwin had 10 kills and 13 digs. Mineweaser ran the offense with 25 assists and had six digs, five kills, four blocks and two aces.

“We had a few lapses, mostly in serve receive, but kept battling and made a couple of nice comebacks in two of the sets,” Dolan said. “Defense was once again key for us, putting up a good block and keeping the ball off the floor in the back row.”

Kylie Fehlman had seven kills and six blocks, while Carly Beers had six kills and two aces and Summer Lucks had 15 digs. Lindsay Madigan added nine assists and five digs.

The win sets up a big showdown at the Joseph A. Massa Gymnasium Tuesday as Warren welcomes Conneaut.

“It was an important region win and avenged the loss to them earlier in the season and sets up a final league game tomorrow against Conneaut with a chance to claim a region championship,” Dolan said.

Warren won the junior varsity match 20-25, 26-24 and 16-14.

Maddy Jones had seven kills and four digs, Bailey Roudybush had two aces and five digs, while Lauren Shattuck had seven digs. Sophie Walker added four kills, Alyssa Farr and four digs and three assists and Lindsay Madigan had 11 assists and five kills.
